But on a more serious note, it's easy for me to find an ultimate favourite in BtW because I'm a chronic yumejo. That means how much I like a character is dependent on who is the MC — me outside the screen or the player character inside. Yumejos who are on the extreme ends of the spectrum are gonna hate me for this lol I have a preference on the relationship type.

GSY - How MC acts around him is actually something I could imagine myself doing. This means his reaction to MC in-game would be similar to how he would react to me outside. [Yume-ship]YY - I want to hop in and fix what MC's done. I'm not saying I'll do better than her, I probably can't, but I can see myself co-existing with MC in the same body and working towards the same goal. I can agree with her actions in all situations so far despite knowing the consequences. i.e. we would have made the same decisions, caused the same trauma and tried to heal him in a similar way. [Yume-ship]BY - I'm not one for loyal guard dog tropes in reality because I know it's a relationship dynamic that doesn't quite mesh well with me but I absolutely love reading about it, seeing it because I personally can't experience it. [Otome-ship]XXY - While I love the teasing and banter between the two, I would get so tired and sick of it IRL. Just be straight with me lol So again, this is a dynamic I like to observe but not experience. It's cute. [Otome-ship]

Yume-ships will always rank higher than Otome-ships for me. Then it's character and story trope that is the deciding factor for me.

YY hits more sweet spots with his tragic past (caused by us, oops), the yandere trope has always been my favourite and I love manipulative and intellectual characters as long as I'm not on the receiving end. If I am then it must not go against my will and YY balances that push and pull perfectly for me. Whereas I'm only able to pinpoint about 2-3 major things about GSY that makes me like him. It's his acceptance, tacit understanding and how he always prepares things perfectly. Unfortunately the last point can become suffocating to me if not done well because I feel like I become useless. So far so good. This is why YY is my top oshi, followed by GSY.

BY is a breath of fresh air with his energy, but you've also got that gap when he's serious, loyal guard. I have fun reading his story and my mood is always lifted. It goes on a rollercoaster but it's one under the sunlight, unlike YY's which is in the rain... BY and GSY are my safe space when I need oxygen to recover from YY. I mainly like XXY because poking fun at him is cute. There are other things I like about him like his leadership and sacrifice for his citizens but it doesn't weigh much at the moment. If the expand on it, it could push him up past BY but for now that's why he's still 4th while BY is 3rd.

I didn't mean to go on a rant it just happened but I hope this is clear enough on how I logically process the feels I get from the game. You don't have to do it like this and you can certainly have a different favourite every day, or even hour. But if you really wanted to work out who your favourite is, that's my system and I hope you find yours too 🫶
