Jumping in with heavy doubt (and gatekeeping LOL). Global can't handle our men and the themes.. most notably Yi Yu himself. How will they deal with nephew? (fourth) brother? when they can't even handle using the term "non-blood-related brother." winkwonk. In addition, there are moments when our men are minors. Many sjzw mini events and stories are around Chinese festivals, events, customs, etc. I've seen EN localisation scrub away Chinese aspects in other games of this genre until they couldn't too, lmao- and it's a bit ehhh how fandoms look at CN games with JP filter and tropes until it fills entire community walls. But who knows.

Hang on, before make my reply lemme scream at your username??? I didn't see this until I opened the comment to publish SCREEECHES I can tell I'm talking to someone who knows BtW well alksdjfaoseij Anyways back to your comment lol I was being as neutral as possible when writing the initial reply because as much as I would like some things to go my way (gatekeeping lol) we can only rely on concrete examples. From what I'm seeing of the fandom, the loud ones definitely will find a lot of the relationships in BtW icky. Like you said, Yi Yu and MC's LEGAL nephew-aunt relationship (yes we had adoption papers. It was one of the first things MC considered) is gonna kick up some drama. And Yi Yu likes to call MC "auntie" when he wants something haha Brother Four gets mistaken as our son too. I do think that this nickname of his will be okay though. You mentioned the men being minors LMAO I also wanted to point out that in the CW stories, MC is usually a minor by modern day standards. She marries at 15. I dunno if that'll get a pass because it's ancient times though... Don't even get me started on the "age gap" in the Xianxia world lol Holding my head in agony about the Chinese Cultural Scrubbing in localisations. The only events that don't reference anything chinese so far have been Vday 2024 and Avici lmao BtW plans their events to the Lunar Calendar, you CAN'T SCRUB THAT. Though if it were to get a localisation, I have faith in them retaining all that because I asked a friend about HLR/LBC. They kept Chinese holidays as is and they did their best with Chinese word puns. I don't hear much discrepancy between the CN men vs JP/EN men characterisations. Unfortunately, localised JP games are much more common now it's also usually the first thing someone who gets into these games think of so I don't think it'll be easy to peel the filter off for new players. I'm pretty jaded and honestly don't care as long as people don't come trampling all over my landmines. We can coexist civilly.
